Whitening - sparkle when you smile!

Causes of Stained Teeth

Frustrated with your discolored teeth? Wonder how they got there? Some causes of stained teeth include:

1) Aging
Years of smoking and drinking, wine, coffee and tea penetrate and stain our tooth structure.

2) Genetics
Some are simply born with yellowish teeth. Thanks, Mom and Dad.

3) Medication
Tetracycline and fluoride are a couple of the medications that may cause tooth discoloration.

How to pick a color

Obviously most people will scream “white!” when asked what color they want their teeth but there are many shades of white available.

Years ago, the Vita Shade Guide offered white as either shade A1 or B1. Today, Hollywood celebrities want whiter shades than those previously provided. The shade of white that most people choose now is a natural bleach shade.

If you have healthy, yellowish teeth, opt for shades A2-A3.5 in the Vita Shades Guide as these shades respond best with your base shade.

The darker your features and hair, the more muted your white shade should be as the contrast would be too prominent if you choose a super white shade.
